INODA+SVEJE for Phantom Hands

The legacy of Indian Modernism is carried forward to the future

Phantom hands was established in Bangalore, the centre of IT industry called the Silicone Valley of INDIA, in 2013. It was a start up of India’s first online shop that specialises in vintage furniture. Deepak Srinath, the founder of Phantom hands is knowledgeable in furniture and later started making reproductions of furniture by Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret (1896-1967) who symbolizes Indian modernism. His endeavour ended with the re-editions, and proceeded to a mission to make use of Indian handcrafts in the contemporary age and connect it to the future. During that period, he encountered chairs in showroom in Belgium that greatly inspired him. There was DC10 by Miyazaki Chair Factory. Srinath called INODA+SVEJE that designed the chairs “contemporary modernist” and decided to collaborate with them.
