Miyazaki Chair Factory is a manufacturer of wooden chairs established in 1969 with the primary focus in the production of stools for dressers and makeup stands, which is one of the local industries. The turning point came in 2000 where we started manufacturing chairs under an own brand. Since then, following up on our long established tradition of exceptional craft and design quality, we have introduced many innovative and original designs in collaboration with designers, such as Kai Kristiansen, INODA+SVEJE, and several other contemporary designers. Our vision is to make a difference in the furniture industry by making chairs which cannot be made by anyone else, except by us. A unique team of 25 highly skilled and specialized workers makes this possible, ensuring the exceptional quality of our chairs in order to make our customers happy. Our commitment is to understand and cater to the desires and needs of people. We do not have any in-house salesperson, so the interior shops are our only sales representatives. We are trying to deepen our partnership with these collaborating shops, and create a long term beneficial partnership.

To make something good, you must have unique characteristics as a manufacturer. I would like every “Miyazaki chair” to reflect our uniqueness so much that it is not possible to make by other companies. Even when with our traditional heritage of craftmanship we challenge those norms in every project with innovative solutions, to overcome tradition and be able to do things that before where not possible.

As creators we and the designers want you to use the chairs with great care and attention for a long time, the chairs are designed and produced to be a sensory experience and we would want you to create a bond with the chair.

Miyazaki Chair Manufacturing is making wooden chairs with the theme of “chairs and people.”

Conversion of Wood :

Made with diverse types, diverse materials and in small lots

At our factory, we store and cut diverse wooden materials which are fully dried in consistent and delicate in-house production. Necessary materials at necessary time in necessary volume: we provide freshly-made wood chairs in the made-to-order system. 6 to 8 kinds of wood materials such as oak, maple, walnut, black cherry, etc. are prepared for over 50 items. You can choose the chair that suits your taste and design of your space.

Wood Work :

Exceptional handcraft and precise machinery work

Focusing on what we make into leads to good quality, responsibility and is a source of joy in manufacturing.
The technique is to seek the best way of production. We want to continue to use the traditional cutting tools as well as applying accuracy and rationality of the advanced equipment to utilize them as tools extended from our hands for manufacturing. To be able to do something we could not do without overcoming this conflict—we are continuously challenging ourselves in our workplace to seek such techniques.

Assembling & Beeswax Finish :

Eyes and hands improve the precision and quality

The parts accurately processed are assembled by hand and are finished with beeswax of 100% natural ingredients. Checking by eyes and hands is done all over the frame, and inspection is simultaneously conducted in the course of manufacture.

Cutting, Sewing and Upholstery

The fabric and leather craftsmen finish the wood chairs

Cutting, sewing and upholstery are the final process to finish the chairs. Leather is cut by avoiding scratches, the fabric is sewn into a three-dimensional shape with the texture matched and upholstery is done so that the fabric fits the wooden part. The craftsmen pour their delicate technique into such ﬁnish work.

Design Workshop :

Power of our craftsmen to achieve combination of design and technique

The designers and craftsmen check the full-size prototypes by being dusted with wood powder. The workshop-style development system to create by using hands at the workplace is the dynamics of our design work.
