Project Chandigargh
This collection features re-edition’s of mid-century modern designs attributed to Pierre Jeanneret and others and created for the Indian city of Chandigarh in the 1950s. Our re-editions’s seek to reinterpret these designs for the contemporary world by improving functionality, quality of material and level of craftsmanship, without compromising the original design and philosophy of making.
A re-edition of the Office Cane Chair originally made for various administrative offices in Chandigarh. The chair is completely handmade and nuances such as finger joints, inclination of the seat, bowed backrest, gentle rounding of edges along the length of the arms & legs – are given due attention in our edition. Rustic elements of the originals are preserved; for example, the cane is not coloured or polished and cane-work knots at the back of chairs are left exposed. The chair is finished with sealer and transparent wood polish, applied by hand.
